Apple and Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, have been in discussions to integrate Meta’s generative AI model into Apple’s newly announced AI system for iPhones, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
This potential collaboration aligns with Apple’s broader strategy to incorporate technology from various AI companies into its devices. Reports indicate that Apple is also exploring a possible partnership with Alphabet’s Google, its long-time search partner.
Additionally, Apple is expected to discuss collaborations with other AI companies in regions such as China, where the Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT is banned. Among these potential partners is AI startup Anthropic, which has been in talks with Apple to integrate its generative AI into Apple Intelligence, the Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
While Meta and Anthropic declined to comment, and Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment outside business hours, these discussions are not yet finalized and may not result in a deal. However, any agreements with Apple would significantly enhance the distribution of AI companies’ products.

Furthermore, AI search startup Perplexity has also been in discussions with Apple to bring its generative AI technology to Apple Intelligence, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Apple also intends to bring ChatGPT to its devices, emphasizing a commitment to privacy as a core feature, distinguishing itself from competitors like Microsoft and Google.
