Apple is planning a phased rollout of its new AI-powered features, branded as Apple Intelligence, across its devices. These features, revealed at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2024, will be available as a preview in the upcoming iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, which are expected to launch in September.
The full version of iOS typically debuts alongside new iPhone models. However, many new features, especially those powered by AI, will initially be in preview mode on the iPhone 16-series. Access to some features may require joining a waitlist, and initially, they will only support American English.
This gradual rollout allows Apple to refine its features based on user feedback and expand language support over time. The company is also working on enhancing its cloud infrastructure to handle the increased AI workload safely.
The first version of iOS 18 will include AI-powered notification summaries and tools for summarizing web pages, emails, and notes. Additionally, it will introduce “Genmojis,” custom emojis created through image generation.

Apple plans to continuously add more AI capabilities throughout 2024. Some features, like the revamped Siri with AI support, will only be ready by 2025. By the end of this year, Siri will have a redesigned interface and the ability to process typed prompts, with advanced features like contextual understanding and in-app function control arriving next year.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is expected to integrate into iOS later in 2024. Apple is also looking to add third-party AI services, potentially including Google’s Gemini and Amazon-backed Anthropic’s Claude AI, as well as partners in China like Baidu and Alibaba.
